Into His Arms
I think of this sweet two-year-old. He throws a tantrum when I tell him no. Whether its "no" to taking the whole box of Cheerios, or "no" to walking out into the road, he lets his displeasure known. And yet... where does he run when he’s angry at me? To me!
Intuitively, a small child knows that even if that Caregiver makes them furious, they can be trusted to comfort them in their fury. Yes, they don't understand the "no", but they hide themselves in the arms of that parent nevertheless. Childlike faith.
It’s only when we get older that we begin to kick and scream and distance ourselves from our parent. This is learned. But let us re-learn how to bring our fury to our Good Father. Even if he makes us angry, even when he tells us no (in his wisdom!)—he is ready, with his arms open, to comfort us.
I know, O LORD, that your rules are righteous, and that in faithfulness you have afflicted me.
Psalm 119:75
Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we
respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of
spirits and live?
Hebrews 12:9
